What a lot is allowed to say.
The shop describes the salts we have chosen. This page is the rule for how those descriptions are allowed to grow. A piece may name a mine, a salting works, or a packer. It may not imply a laboratory result, a denomination, or a contract that the lot does not hold.
The British Saltbox is a house of Ocanom Ltd. The British Saltbox is a trading name of Ocanom Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 16963342. Registered office: 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. Parcels are packed in London. That office is the registered office, not a studio. Geology, with its published sources, lives only on The Salt. Questions people ask twice live on the FAQ.
The lot card
When a lot is packed in London, the card on the piece and the note on the product page carry the same facts:
- The piece, the weight, and the catalogue reference.
- Origin as specific as the supply allows: mine, salting works, or packer.
- The form: chunk, crystal, or flake. A preparation is named only if the lot is one.
- Any assay or denomination the lot actually holds. If it does not hold one, the card stays quiet.
Until a lot is packed, the shop page is the tasting note and the origin we are buying against. It is not a forged certificate. The pink of Khewra is described as the colour of that halite, not as a trace-metal claim. Sicily is named as the country of the evaporite, not as a quarry we have not contracted.
What we will not invent
Prices are in pounds sterling. We do not borrow a protected name, a harvest date, or a works we cannot stand behind. Corrections go through the contact form, and the page changes.
Buying
The basket in your browser is a list of the pieces you want. It does not reserve stock. Payment is billed by Ocanom Ltd from the basket. Delivery and returns are written once, on their own pages.
Photographs
Photographs of the wooden box, open and closed, are house product photography. They are the box we sell. The same is true of the Romanian and Himalayan chunks, and of the open box shown with those chunks. No outside photographer is credited, because none is named for those frames.
Some pictures of a chunk, a jar, or a works are house studio images. They show the kind of salt. They are not a photograph of a packed lot, and they are not a mine.
